What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?
Specialist Disability Accommodation NDIS refers to specially designed housing that allows people with significant disabilities to receive the support they need while maintaining as much independence as possible. It is not about the support services themselves, but rather the bricks-and-mortar part of housing.
These homes are constructed or modified to ensure safety, accessibility, and comfort for participants whose support needs cannot be met in a regular home. The design includes features like wide doorways, reinforced walls, hoist systems, assistive technology, and fully accessible bathrooms and kitchens. Importantly, SDA enables individuals to live in a setting that best suits their lifestyle, health conditions, and goals.
