Paithani Silk Saree
Every Paithani woven at Nyra Couture is truly a poem in silk and zari. Our artisans are skilled weavers with decades of weaving experience and hence ensuring a masterpiece in every creation.

The weaving of a Paithani is a process that requires high skill, dedication and patience as the entire process right from the dyeing is manual. The weaving happens entirely on handlooms with only sketches of the designs guiding the weavers. Many times the traditional patterns are so embedded in the weavers mind that they don't even need a sketch.

The Paithani was originally woven in the finest cotton upto the peshwa period. It is only in the past century the Paithani started getting woven in silk. The "Mahavastra" as it is known for its grandeur, is an essential item in the bridal trousseau.

The past few decades saw many changes in the Paithani weaving, mainly in the motifs, which evolved keeping in mind the changing tastes of the women. The simple geometric patterns gave way to much elaborate designs. The colours too which were earlier limited to a few, with new techniques and dyes are now innumerable.

Nyra Couture has been working closely to preserve the true essence of the Paithani and bring you the most authentic, timeless styles which you would treasure as a family heirloom.

Types of Paithani Silk
This type of fabric is divided into several distinct categories.
When it comes to Paithani Sarees, there are three types of silk threads used: Charkha, which is a low-cost and inconsistent silk; Ciddle-Gatta, which is a silk of superior quality, thin, radiant, and even; and Silk from China, which is expensive but is cleaned with caustic soda and dyed in the appropriate colors before being separated with care.
A type of gold thread is used in two-ply and single-ply forms, producing a fabric with a glossy, tightly woven finish. Zari is a metallic yarn with a silver hue. Initially, the centre of zari-making was Yeola, but now Surat is rapidly taking over. In the past, Paithani was created with zari made from pure gold; now, silver is the most inexpensive option.
