To sell Electric Ceiling Type Fans in India, manufacturers must obtain BIS Certification as per IS 374:2019. This certification ensures that the fans meet stringent safety and performance standards for single-phase 50 Hz A.C Ceiling Fans, powered by squirrel cage induction motors, capacitor-type, and brushless D.C motors up to 250V. By achieving BIS Certification, manufacturers can ensure the quality and reliability of their products, meeting the regulatory requirements set by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
As of 9th August 2023, the BIS Certification for Electric Ceiling Fans has become mandatory, with implementation scheduled for 9th February 2024. This regulation focuses on ensuring consumer safety and maintaining high product standards for fans used in homes and similar settings.
