The Chadar Trek is a famous winter trek in the Ladakh region of India. It takes place on the frozen Zanskar River, where trekkers walk on a thick layer of ice. The trek is done in January and February when the temperature is extremely cold, sometimes going below minus thirty degrees Celsius. Earlier, local people used this frozen river as a winter route to travel between villages.
