A real-time 3D position and attitude measurement at 100 Hz, to within 2 cm, is produced by combining this data with measurements from a highly precise inertial measurement system. The target vehicle is used for all real-time measurements. What is amazing is that VIPS can outperform GPS by achieving re-acquisition and complete accuracy in less than 0.2 seconds! A minimum of eight fixed Ultra-Wideband (UWB) beacons are positioned throughout the indoor test area in predetermined locations that have been manually surveyed with a handheld laser or Total Station (a self-survey can also be conducted if time is of the essence).
