Specialized polymer compounds known as "bio filler masterbatches" combine biodegradable fillers with a carrier resin to improve the qualities of plastic products while lessening their negative effects on the environment. The natural or bio-based fillers found in these masterbatches, such as calcium carbonate, starch, talc, or plant fibers, help increase biodegradability, decrease the amount of plastic used, and cut production costs.
