“At present, 2,170 hectares are being cultivated using Subhash Palekar Natural Farming (SPNF) techniques, but we'd like to extend this number by motivating farmers,” said Special Secretary, Agriculture, and State Project Director of Prakritik Kheti Khushaal Kisan Yojna Rakesh Kanwar.

Inaugurating the six-day induction program for new assistant technology managers (ATM) of the Agriculture Department started at the State Agriculture Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) on Monday, Kanwar said at the block level, agriculture officials had done well and as a result, that they had achieved the target of adding 50,000 farmers for 2019-20. For the upcoming year, they planned to take the natural farming movement to another level by adding more farmers and areas under natural farming, he added.

In the 6-day induction program, new ATMs of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kinnaur, Kangra, and Lahaul-Spiti would understand various aspects of the Prakritik Kheti Khushaal Kisan Yojna.
