In IVF, this procedure of fertilization takes place outside the woman’s body. The egg from the woman is surgically taken away and then fertilized in a laboratory making use of sperm which has been made available as a sperm sample. Now, the fertilized egg, generally known as an embryo, is surgically transplanted into the woman's womb. Commonly, one sequence of IVF usually takes between four and seven weeks.
