The Galapagos Islands are perhaps the most celebrated wildlife-watching tourist destination globally. These islands have literally assumed a mythological standing. Their unique connection to Charles Darwin, probably the most renowned visitor to the Islands has over time become romanticized and distorted. Yet one does not need be an ornithologist or an evolutionary biologist to really appreciate one among the few remaining places on planet earth where the actual footprint of man’s presence has been kept to the minimum.
