Herpes lesions are those sores that tend to develop on oral areas such as the hard palate, the gingiva, the lips, and the alveolar ridge. The condition typically consists of small vesicles that, at some point, rupture. After rupture, a crust forms over the lesion. Often, herpes lesions will recur in the exact same location. These lesions can form on the lip as well as inside of the mouth, where they may run together, or join into one larger lesion.
