Goa was part of the Portuguese rule colony from 1510 to 1961 for approx 451 years. So, Goa state has big effect of the Portuguese social, cultural and religion. Portuguese has built several churches during their rule period. Its one church is also includes UNESCO world heritage site which located in Velha Goa city.
Goa state some most famous churches are Bom Jesus Basilica church which was built in 1605, Se Cathedral which was built in 1619, Church of St Francis of Assisi which was built in 1661, Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception which was built in 1541 and Church of St. Catejan which was built in 1700.
