The city has also experience the rule of Mughal and Marathas.
Jodhpur is among the most famous tourist destinations of Rajasthan with beautiful and attractive landscape which includes Mehrangarh Fort, it is the pride of the city and one of the largest forts of India. This fort took many centuries in the construction which can be seen in the different style of architecture. It has also featured in the famous Hollywood movie The Dark Knight Rises. Umaid Bhawan palace, it is heritage hotel which offers a taste of the regal to all its patrons. The place displays indo European style of architecture. Jaswant Thada, it is a royal cenotaph which is built beautifully with white marbles along with a small pond and pretty garden next to it. Mahamandir, this temple is spread on large piece of land and holds amazingly carved 84 pillars which are sight to behold. Other places to visit are Balsamand Lake, Mandore Garden and Khejarla Fort. One can also attend Rajasthan International Folk Festival which held in Jodhpur in the month October.
Apart from its forts and palaces Jodhpur also has serves some mouth watering dishes, from traditional makhaniya lassi to fast food like Pav Bhaji to Haldi Ki Sabji to Dal Bhati is the speciality of Jodhpur.
Time period of November to February is considered as the best time to visit the city, as the weather becomes pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
Reaching Jodhpur is now very easy because it has its own airport and railway station which makes travelling easier. Road connections are also good as well. It airbase and railhead is connected to major destination of India such as Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and some other cities of Gujarat and Rajasthan through regular flights and train schedule.
