Legend has it that, the place Chittorgarh was established by the one of the Pandavas, Bhim. The city is adorned by seven gateways namely, Bhairon Pol, Lakshman Pol, Padan Pol, Hanuman Pol, Jorla Pol, Ganesh Pol and the main entrance is known as Ram Pol.
Apart from this Chittorgarh is sprinkled with many fascinating places to visit such as Chittorgarh Fort, it houses many magnificent monuments inside its premises; Rani Padmini Palace, this is the place where Alauddin Khilji spotted of queen padmini’s reflection in the pool and was besotted by her beauty; Vijay Stambh, it is a nine storeyed tower beautified with detailed structure of Hindu god and goddesses; Kirti Stambh, it is a seven storeyed tower dedicated to lord Adinathji and decorated with figures of Digambers; Fateh Prakash Palace, it is now a museum which houses rich collection of wood crafts, post medieval statues of Jain, weapons, clay replicas of regional tribal people and their costume, paintings and crystal ware; Jain temples, these Jain temples are situated in the premises of Chittor fort; Ratan Singh Palace, this attractive palace used to be the winter palace of royal family and it overlooks the a small lake; Rana Kumbha Palace, now it is a ruined edifice. It is said to have a underground cellars where Queen Padmini and other ladies committed self-immolation; Kumbha Shyam temple, it is strongly connected to the mystic poetess Meerabai, passionate devotee of lord Krishna and wife of prince Bhojraj; Bhainsrorgarh Fort, it is standing on the steep slate ridge, cuddled in Aravalli ranges and dense forest, surrounded by river on three sides attracts tourists from all over the world. Now it has been converted into a heritage hotel. Some more places are Nagari, Gaumukh Reservoir, Tulja Bhavani temple and Kalika Mata Temple.
