LHINThe most well known technology used for Big Data is Hadoop.Hadoop is an open source suite, under an apache foundation.
The Hadoop brand contains many different tools. Two of them are core parts of Hadoop:Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) is a virtual file system that looks like any other file system except than when you move a file on HDFS, this file is split into many small files, each of those files is replicated and stored on (usually, may be customized) 3 servers for fault tolerance constraints.
The Hadoop/NoSQL software and services market reached $542 million in 2012 as measured by vendor revenue. This includes revenue by Hadoop and NoSQL pure-play vendors companies such as Cloudera and MongoDB as well as Hadoop and NoSQL revenue from larger vendors such as IBM, EMC (now Pivotal) and Amazon Web Services. Weforecast this market to grow to $3.48 billion in 2017, a 45% CAGR during this five year period.
Hadoop: Hadoop is an open source framework for processing, storing and analyzing massive amounts of distributed unstructured data. Originally created by Doug Cutting at Yahoo!, Hadoop was inspired by MapReduce, a user-defined function developed by Google in early 2000s for indexing the Web. It was designed to handle petabytes and exabytes of data distributed over multiple nodes in parallel.
