For the 359th year, Agra commemorated the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan with a three day celebration at the Taj Mahal marking the anniversary of the ruler’s death in a ceremony known as an Urs.

Shah Jahan ruled the Mughal Empire for 30 years before dying in 1666. His rule is considered the zenith of Mughal architecture, and his finest work, the Taj Mahal , was built as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
